Introduction To Your Driving Instructor
When you meet your driving instructor, they will establish what level of training is needed for you based on your knowledge and ability. The relationship you build is very important as you will be spending time together. We want you to enjoy your lessons, as we believe you will learn quicker with a better understanding, if the communication between trainer and pupil is understood clearly. At the start of each lesson the trainer will set an objective which may include introducing a new skill or improving a current skill.
Your 1st Driving Lesson
- How to operate the controls.
- Understanding the Vehicle Controls.
- Start using the controls and driving the vehicle.
We recommend a double, 2 hour driving lesson initially to fully familiarise yourself in the use of the vehicle and to give enough time for you to start driving. You can BOOK YOUR 2HR Driving Lesson here.
On Going Driving Lessons
Progress is made methodically, putting into practice what has been instructed. Initially new skills are taught with instruction from your driving instructor and when you improve, you begin to practice the skill without instruction independently. Practice makes perfect!
Learning sheets are given to enhance training between driving lessons with learning new skills.
- As your skill improves the responsibility of your driving changes from the driving instructor to you.
- You are test standard when you can drive and perform all manoeuvres without instruction and are able to do this making no more than 15 driving faults and no serious or dangerous faults.
- Start preparing for the theory test by reading the Highway Code and 'Driving - The Essential Skills' as recommended by the Driving Standards Agency. You will be given 'mock tests' and 'pop quizzes' by your instructors and when you are ready can book your test online here.
- Pass Plus is a training scheme for new drivers who have passed their practical test. Its aim is to improve your driving skills and make you a safer driver, rewarding you with discounts on motor insurance. There are 6 modules to complete the training but you will not have to take a test. Your driving instructor will be looking for you to demonstrate the required skill and knowledge in each module in order for you to receive your Pass Plus certificate. For more information ask your driving instructor or contact us.
